This time last year we were headed into an unexpected and uncertain Spring season (which turned into an unprecedented Summer, Fall & Winter) and now, here we are - full circle. Another Spring is upon us and we may be feeling ready for a fresh start, a reset - a new beginning! Or at least we might change into a different pair of sweatpants.

I think it’s safe to say that we are all ready for a change! As the world begins to open up again and things are starting to feel a bit safer, how do you want to show up in this new season? Have you been lacking energy and motivation over the past 12 months? Have you added on a few extra pounds? Are you sleeping more and exercising less? Many of us looked for comfort foods and other ways to cope with our stress and anxiety during this time. It’s totally normal.

As we all know, looking back and beating ourselves up doesn’t change anything. In fact, it can lead us further down a path of destructive behaviors. So let’s look ahead. Let’s hit the reset button and decide how we want to move forward in our wellness journey.

But what does that even mean? For starters, cleaning up your routine doesn’t have to be overwhelming. Take one habit or behavior that you perceive as negative and replace it with a positive one. Continue to do that until the new, positive behavior becomes a habit. Then choose another one, and so on.

I like to categorize my goals and then break them down into actionable, attainable and sustainable behaviors. Here are some examples of how I am planning to spring clean my wellness routine this season.

FITNESS:

Find a fun, new and challenging workout program to do at home. Press play on that routine everyday! Carve out 30-40 minutes at the same time each day to make sure it’s scheduled. If I set it up as an appointment on my calendar, I know I won’t miss it. Get outside for at least 30 minutes each day, breathe in the fresh air and take my dogs for a walk too!

NUTRITION:

Remind myself how great I feel when I drink my superfood shakes everyday. They are PACKED with vitamins, minerals, protein, pre-biotics, probiotics, and adaptogens that I could never get through food alone. I will incorporate them every morning for energy, weight maintenance, appetite control and balanced digestion. Of course, I will continue to nourish my body with whole foods and other healthy meals as well!

MINDSET:

Setting an alarm each morning and before looking at my phone or computer, I will put on my earbuds and listen to a 10 minute, guided meditation. After that, I will spend 10 minutes writing in my gratitude journal before I start my workout. I find that starting my day feeling grateful sets me up to be more productive and fulfilled throughout the day!

PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT:

I am constantly seeking out opportunities to grow and learn. When I dig deep into why I do certain things (or don’t do them), it helps to guide me in a goal-oriented direction. I would like to make this a more consistent practice as I find it to be emotionally and spiritually healing. I have lots of books and podcasts on my list so I’m eager to get to those this Spring! I recently finished Jay Shetty’s Think Like a Monk and Atomic Habits by James Clear - highly recommend both!
